If you're here, you have found your way to my story.

It was not an easy one to tell, and it may not be an easy one to read. I spent years in a space that made telling my own story very difficult — and years more trying to reclaim it.

My name is Jonah A. Thorne III — or rather, it's the name I write under, which is a story of its own and one I'll get to. For now, welcome to my blog, and thank you for becoming a part of my journey.

I am the author of To the Man I Called Father, a memoir about the abuse of my daughter by my own father, and about what that did to all of us — not only to the one it happened to, but to an entire family trying to hold together around it.

I started writing as a therapy exercise one day. Several months later, I realized how much I had written. It wasn't until I reached a state of forgiveness that I decided to turn my therapy into something else.

I am aware of the statistics, and I understand the nightmare that victims and families like mine are going through.

I do not know if my story will help anyone. My hope is that you will see yourself in it and understand that no matter how long and dark the tunnel is, it has an end. There is light, eventually.

This blog is where I'll write about the things that don't fit inside the book: the strange work of telling a true story honestly, the long and uncertain road toward something like healing, and, now and then, just an update on what's coming next.
